Co-directors Hanne Phlypo and Catherine Vuylsteke opted for a imaginitive account of the lives of three unaccompanied minors. They optimize the aesthetics of reality and focus on the power of the image through the unspoken. Their long established relationships with the characters enabled them to bridge the distance between subject and filmmaker, between the familiar and the unknown. Thus they provide the viewer with a privileged insight into the world of their protagonists, with their comforting rituals, hesitant hopes, unwavering beliefs and unavoidable misfortunes.
An original soundtrack by Karim Baggili blends oriental influences with an intimate soundscape, thus enhancing the subtle atmosphere of the remarkably lighthearted film.
